“Gavin’s Journey:
From Overtraining to True Wellness”
Gavin’s commitment to health and fitness began with a deeply personal motivation—losing both parents to heart issues at a very early age.
Determined to avoid the same fate, he immersed himself in triathlon training, convinced it was the key to longevity. Training six days a week, Gavin seemed the picture of health — until a routine NHS ‘well man check’ revealed a stark reality.

Diagnosed with high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy, Gavin was forced to stop training at once. The sudden shift from intense exercise to no activity at all left him struggling with dopamine withdrawal, pacing the house in frustration, and living in denial about the need for lifelong medication.
With the unwavering support of his wife, Pippa, Gavin embraced a new path. Together, they discovered the power of nourishing food, quality sleep, and mindful movement. Over the following five years, these lifestyle changes transformed not only his physical health but his mental wellbeing. The most remarkable milestone came three years ago when Gavin was able to stop taking medication entirely, feeling healthier and more content than ever before.
Inspired by this journey, Gavin qualified as a Nutrition Coach, accredited by The Complementary Medical Association. Now, through Ashtons’ Retreats, he supports others on their own paths to lasting wellness.
“Pippa’s Journey: From Pain to Empowerment”
In early 2020, Pippa reached breaking point. Exhausted, overwhelmed by menopause symptoms, and crippled by hip pain, she found herself unable to do even simple tasks, like walking down the stairs.

During her stay, Pippa discovered the transformative power of gut health. Armed with new knowledge and experiencing significant pain relief, she returned home motivated to implement lasting changes for her wellbeing. These improvements inspired her to help her initially sceptical husband embrace the same holistic practices. Within two months, Pippa was completely pain-free and had her menopause symptoms under control.
Eager to deepen her expertise, Pippa attended a six-week nutrition workshop and later completed a Wellness Coaching course accredited by The Complementary Medical Association. Pippa also incorporated yoga, cold dipping, and other mindful practices into her daily life. Nearly five years later, these habits have become her foundation for vibrant health and wellbeing.
Now, Pippa uses her experience as the inspiration behind Ashtons’ Retreats. Passionate about helping others transform their health, she empowers guests to embrace change, restore balance, and rediscover joy in life.
